If you are reading this, thinking about whether or not learn HTML, you may already get some of it before you know it !
HyperText : Text which is linked to each other.
Mark-up : Defining of Boundaries.
Language : Language to define the above two properties.
Just as you open an image file(.jpeg), a music track(.mp3) a document(.docx) or a presentation(.pptx), you have .html extension for html pages. HTML is not difficult or confusing to learn, it may be the easiest language you picked up in a while ! So Let’s get started !
Just as you have an Image Viewer for images, Music Players for MP3’s and Office suites for spreadsheets, a WEB BROWSER is used to open an HTML page.As mp3’s contain music which CAN ONLY BE PLAYED by a music player(and NOT spreadsheet program),HTML files contain data which can only be displayed on HTML decoders, such as Web Browsers.
Now, HTML is really easy to understand. Say we want to write,
Pizza tastes best with double cheese.
Notice that ‘double’ is written in bold. To write this in HTML,
Pizza tastes best with <strong> double </strong> cheese.
Here, ‘double’ is written with in the beginning and in the end. This helps to tell the browsers(such as Mozilla Firefox) to display whatever is written between them as Bold. These are called Tags. Some of you may have noticed the difference between the beginning ‘< strong >‘ and ending ‘< / strong >‘.Any guesses ?
